Romania

The objective of the Foundation's engagement in Romania is to improve the oral health of underprivileged children. The pilot project began in 2007 in the city of Sintana, Arad. 

The key target group are the 6-8-year-old pupils of primary schools in the region of Arad. In addition, local orphan children living in SOS-childcare homes also take part in the project.

The children will be trained and fluoridated regularly by local oral health teachers.

The Toothfriendly Foundation trains the local educators with the principle “teach the teachers”. By the end of 2009, five primary school teachers were educated to cover the region of Arad. In the school year 2009-2010, a total number of 1275 Romanian children were reached.
